October 2024 KFN Meeting is at City Hall

For the October 2024 meeting, the Kingston Field Naturalists will meet in Memorial Hall on the second floor of Kingston City Hall. This historical venue is quite appropriate for the October meeting since we are celebrating our 75th anniversary as a club, Kingston City Hall is much older than the KFN which means that the original members of the club would have been familiar with the meeting place.

City Hall is located at 216 Ontario Street. You may enter the building through the large central doors on Ontario Street. If you require an accessible entrance with a ramp, please contact us at info@kingstonfieldnaturalists.org ahead of time (that door will be locked at the time of our meeting). The accessible drop off is on Market Street with the ramped entrance behind City Hall off of Market Square. To get to Memorial Hall, ascend the large staircase to the second floor or use the elevator, both located in the lobby.

Street parking is free after 6:00 p.m. and there are several lots that may or may not be free. If you don’t mind walking, you should have no problem finding somewhere to park; just remember to leave a little extra time. If you are concerned about your mobility or safety and would like some help getting to City Hall, please contact info@kingstonfieldnaturalists.org and we will try to arrange carpooling for you from a nearby location such as the downtown Food Basics store or the Kingston Military Community Sports Centre. Also contact us if you are willing to help with this effort.

If you have any historical memorabilia to share, you are welcome to bring it to the meeting. There will be two members speaking about their experience in the KFN and several displays of items. A special anniversary cake will also be on offer as well as other refreshments.

Zoom participants will be included in a virtual tour of the displays and the room starting around 7:00 p.m. and will have a dedicated speaker (UE Megaboom) in the room, so they can be heard.
