The KFN runs events for members throughout the year. Event details such as the trip leader, meeting times and location, can be found on our calendar of events or in the KFN monthly newsletter. Use the following links for specific types of events:
Please Note: Field trips are starting up again. Until the Covid situation improves province-wide our Field Trips will be conducted only within the Kingston Circle.
The KFN Executive strongly encourages carpooling for all Rambles & Field Trips. Please pay a fair share of the driving expenses to your driver. If you are not sure how much is fair, ask your driver how much they think the trip cost them. An example: Three people share a car from Kingston to Prince Edward Point. Each person might contribute $10.
Important note: Please be aware that ticks carrying Lyme disease are a concern on any ramble or field trip, so please take precautions against tick bites. Please read the information in the following PDF document, adapted from a brochure from the Ministry of Health and Long-term Care.
The KFN hosts an annual Bioblitz in June at a different location each year. This event records as many species (of all biological kingdoms/classes) as possible. Details will be available on events calendar and newsletter leading up to event.
Spring and Fall Round-Ups
Every spring and fall there is a week-end of birding that aims to count as many bird species as possible. They usually occur in May and October. Watch events calendar for details.
May Bird Walks
Every Wednesday in May, KFN hosts a morning and an afternoon bird walk at Lemoine Point, open to the public. This is a great opportunity for those new to birding, including young people, to get an introduction into this hobby.
Christmas Bird Counts
In late Decemeber the KFN joins birders world-wide on this point-in time survey of birds. This contributes to an overall, long-term picture of species and numbers.
