Kingston 50km circle BioBlitz 2020
The Kingston Field Naturalists 2020 BioBlitz at Fourth Lake Nature Reserve has been cancelled. We hope to be able to hold our 2021 BioBlitz in the same location.
For this year we are holding a Kingston 50km circle Blitz which you can enjoy on your own on any or all of three days (Friday 12th, Saturday 13th and/or Sunday 14th June).
A link to the 50km circle can be found under the birding resources on the website: https://www.google.com/maps/d/u/0/viewer?msa=0&ie=UTF8&t=m&ll=44.21863142749103%2C-76.34124715234373&spn=1.180998%2C1.647949&z=9&source=embed&mid=1HFg4Qw-LJTMfp07HpNL6ccBp_bM.
Please send reports one of three ways by Sunday 21 June.
NOTE: Please avoid listing clearly cultivated species though non-native species that have ‘gone wild’ may be accepted.
- submit to the iNaturalist Natural History Kingston Study Area site.
You do not need a species identification to submit a photo as you may get identification from your photo at this site. As well you may see species submitted by others. TO DO THIS
i.Visit https://www.inaturalist.org/ and sign up for a free account (need e mail and password)
ii. Then go to
https://www.inaturalist.org/projects/natural-history-of-the-kingston-study-area and look for the small “join this project” link found just above the big red Add Observations button. Start adding observations through your personal account using the green upload button found near your profile icon at the top of each page- your observations will automatically be added to the KFN Project.
iii. When viewing observations on the project, use the filters to set parameters such as date, range, taxonomic group or more
2. For birds E bird is a viable option. Observers already using e Bird are encouraged to share their sightings with “Kingston FN’
3. Sightings may also be submitted directly to Anne at email@example.com
We hope you enjoy this BioBlitz which will give us a view of the biodiversity of the Kingston Area at this time. Good luck!
