Annual General Meeting plus Birds and Beasts in Africa
April 18 @ 7:00 PM - 9:00 PM
April is the KFN’s Annual General Meeting. At this meeting we will vote on executive and budget and other important tasks so it is important to have as many members present as possible.
There will also be two short talks (with wonderful photos) by Ken Edwards and Anthony Kaduck regarding their trips to different parts of the African continent.
Birding Morocco, from “The Roof of Africa” to the Sahara Desert. In the NW corner of Africa it is less than a day’s journey from the snow-covered Atlas Mountains to the sand dunes of the Sahara Desert. A spring birding trip catches migrants heading north to Europe as well as the Atlas Mountain endemics and species only found in the desert. Ken, a life-long member of he KFN, made the trip, camera in-hand, in March of 2018.
The Great Migration. Every year a vast herd of wildebeest moves across the great plains of the Serengeti, from Tanzania to Kenya, following the availability of grazing. The herds are accompanied by hundreds of thousands of zebra, gazelle, impala and many other herd animals, and by the lions, leopards and hyena that prey upon them. Anthony traveled to Tanzania in 2015 to witness this wildlife spectacle.
